SCRIPT READING
MY EXPERTISE
As a director and dramaturg I regularly read drafts of new scripts at various stages in their development and offer support.
I am currently a script reader for the Royal Court Theatre open submissions and their Intro to Playwriting course. I have previously read scripts for: Tara Theatre, the Mercury Theatre/Weinberger Playwriting Prize, the Almeida Theatre and Casarotto Agency .
At the Birmingham REP I worked with Tessa Walker to develop scripts from Chloe Moss, Charlene James and Stef Smith. I am currently working with a number of writers to develop new scripts for production.
I have worked as a dramaturg with English Touring Theatre on their ‘Mixed’ anthology of monologues, Frankie Meredith on ‘The Petticoat Council’ and Natasha Collie to develop her script ‘When the Sea Swallows us Whole’.
TESTIMONIALS
Natasha Collie (writer)
“It’s always a great experience working with Beth. As well as being a formidably smart director, Beth facilitated a really useful R&D with actors for our project and her incisive questions about the script helped me unlock its potential. She’s awesome!”
Tessa Walker (director and dramarug)
“Beth is an excellent director and dramaturg, always writer-focussed, always collaborating in a way that brings the best out of the artists she is working with and always open, warm and insightful. “
Simon Marshall (writer)
“Within an hour of working on the text together I knew how to make the stakes higher, the character stronger and the piece braver. Beth is incredibly good at seeing the story & bursting it to the surface.”
WHAT I OFFER
I offer bespoke script reading services depending on what you need at this moment on your draft or idea.
